Polyester Yarn

Polyester CD

  • Vibrant Color Palette: Achieves exceptionally bright tones, excellent color depth, and superior color fastness.

  • Melange (Two-Tone) Effect: When woven or knitted with regular polyester, a single dyeing bath can create a "heathered" or two-tone effect because the CD fibers absorb cationic dyes while the regular fibers do not.

  • Low-Temperature Dyeing: It can be dyed at approximately 95°C - 110°C. This saves energy and protects the integrity of heat-sensitive fibers (like Spandex or Wool) in blended fabrics.

  • Enhanced Handfeel: CD fabrics are typically softer and lack the "plastic-like" sheen of standard polyester, providing a touch closer to natural fibers.

Cationic Dyeable (CD) Polyester Yarn: Advanced Color & Technical Solutions

1. Introduction

Cationic Dyeable Polyester Yarn (commonly known as CD Yarn) is a modified polyester fiber. During the polymerization process, a modifying agent (typically SIPM - Sulfonated Isophthalic Acid Monomer) is added to create anionic (acidic) functional groups within the polymer chain. This allows the fiber to bond with cationic dyes, offering more vibrant colors and a more flexible dyeing process compared to standard polyester.

2. Composition and Mechanism

  • Core Components: Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) modified with Sulfonate salt groups.

  • Dyeing Mechanism: The negatively charged groups on the CD polymer chain attract and bond strongly with positively charged (cationic) dye molecules.

  • Structural Profile: CD fibers generally possess higher porosity than standard polyester, allowing for better dye penetration at lower temperatures.

3. Key Characteristics
